about me
Hello there! It's great to have you here.
My name is Miranda, but you can call me Mira. I’m a 30-something lifelong artist and geek based out of Denver, Colorado.
I primarily work in watercolor and gouache but I love to experiment and learn new mediums and ways of creating. My work ranges from vibrant galaxies on wood slices to a variety of mushroom people exploring their world to astronauts discovering new planets.
Each new piece that I create begins as a spark of wonder and curiosity at what could exist beyond the familiar world we inhabit. While some artists like to focus on the beauty of people and of our natural world, I tend to prefer building new worlds and exploring unique (and sometimes weird) ideas.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been creative. I have distinct memories from my childhood of going outside to collect handfuls of pebbles and then hot gluing them together to create interesting structures, or of taking a break from writing a new story to sketching out various objects and scenes from the stories.
As a pre-teen I took an art class from my hometown’s resident quirky artist which helped to further blossom my interest in art and helped me to understand the dedication and perseverance that being a professional artist takes. Throughout my teen years I drew extensively and focused more on graphite and realism. As I got older and more busy with “real life,” my art and creativity took a back seat to jobs and relationships.
It was when I turned 30 that I realized how much I missed my past self. I missed my curiosity, my imagination, my creativity, and my vibrance. A week later I went and bought my first ever watercolor set.
